about us
Pete's Classic Garage opened its doors in 2007, but my journey with classic cars began long before that—over 25 years earlier. My passion for machines with engines ignited around age eight with a mini bike, a fascination I later discovered was a family tradition dating back to the 1930s.
In the 1980s, a temporary gig selling merchandise at the 1980 Australian Grand Prix at Calder Park Raceway led to my first workshop job. There, I honed my skills building and preparing iconic cars like GT Falcons, Mustangs, Ford GT Capris, and Australian Group C touring cars—from bare body shells to track-ready machines. This same shop even built the road-going Phase 5 (XD) and Phase 6 (XE) Falcons. By 18, I had already built my first 4V GT Falcon engine (XA).
My experience extends to Group C and Group A racing in Australia, and Group 2 and Group 5 German touring cars in Asia. I spent time building Porsche Cup cars in Hong Kong and ran my own classic car restoration shop in Sai Kung. From 1995 to 2004, we raced a 1967 Fastback Mustang across Asia, competing at legendary tracks like Sepang F1, Macau, Zhuhai (China), Bira (Philippines), Shah Alam, and Johor Bahru.
Our Focus Today
Now located in Moorabbin, Victoria, Pete's Classic Garage is a workshop dedicated to repairing pre-1970s cars, with a special focus on Fords. My enduring love for Fords stems from seeing a '67 Fastback in the late 70s.
Our primary goal is to make your classic car a joy to drive. As I always tell my customers, if your car is easy to drive, you'll drive it more often. We believe in getting these beautiful machines out on the road where they belong.
